Lyman Woods is an amazing Forest Preserve. It features 200 year old Oak Savannah, native prairie lands, and a large expanse of easily accessible marsh lands. It is also an incredible venue to view some of Illinois' most exotic and colorful birds. It's common to see some deers and other animals in the wood. And, of course, it has an abundance of different wild plants.
It's a relatively short hike (a mile or so) and we will be going in a relaxed manner to enjoy the surroundings. It would take probably an hour or two. However, we may take some additional small routes if we are still in a mood.
The walk will be a perfect place to connect with nature, as well as to socialize, discuss "green" topics, and make new like-minded friends!
This event is a joint event with Chicago Hiking, Outdoors, and Social Group so expect more good people join us for the hike!
Also, some of us will come earlier for Saturday Morning Tai-Chi Practice. Here is more info: Meetup.com/ChicagolandTaiChi
