Christmas Day Walk 7 hills of Edinburgh (at least some of them)

  • to
  • Edinburgh Zoo

    134 Corstorphine Road
    EH12 6TS
    Edinburgh (map)

    55.941967 -3.269363

  • We'll be by the entrance.
  • Because it's Christmas Day we will be having a slightly more relaxed 3mph pace, and feel free to drop in and out as suits you ( though it will be easier to drop out than in)

Starting from outside the Zoo, we plan to do the hills in the following order:
Corstorphine Hill; Wester and Easter Craiglockhart Hills; Braid Hill, followed by Blackford Hill

Then into town for Arthur Seat, Castle Hill and Calton Hill although last year we went Castle Hill, Arthurs Seat then Calton Hill as 'the Doctors' and Jeremiah's taproom were both open.  Hurrah!

Please bring food just in case we can't get anything to eat in the pub(s), and if you think you'll make the whole thing a torch will be handy for the doubtless 'in the dark ascent' of Arthur.  This will be a joint walk with those lovely Travelling Dangleburys.

Walk distance: approx. 27.5 km (17 miles)

    Estimated duration: 7 hours

    Total ascent: approx. 330 metres

Walkers are responsible for their own safety, and no member or organizer from the group can be held responsible in case of any mishap or being left behind in a pub.

Hello all, I would like to ask if it is possible to invite two friends that are coming to visit Scotland during that period? Please, let me know.

I might be interested but not sure whether I will be in Edinburgh on the day. I would plan to join the group at Craiglockhart hill. I am going to put my name down just now, but will cancel in plenty of time if not in Edinburgh
