We'll be getting the 10.33 North Berwick train to Longniddry and from there walking through the grounds of Gosford House, the village of Aberlady and the nature reserve, along the beach to North Berwick.
Please note the walk on the beach can make the walk seem longer than 14 miles.
Please wear walking shoes/boots (not flip flops) and suitable clothing (not jeans), You'll also need a torch or head torch for the last half hour or so. Bringing food and a drink to see you through the day is also a good idea.
Dogs are not allowed on this walk as we will be going though the Nature Reserve at Aberlady where they are banned.
This is a full day out as our walk time will be around 5 and a half hours, plus an hour travelling. As it's Sunday service this can add up to another hour waiting for the train home (at 20 past the hour). Of course, if there's time to kill we'll make good use of it with refreshments at the The Ship Inn before heading to the station via the Co-op for those 'in the know'. Don't count on being back in Edinburgh for before 6PM though.
The North Berwick train is usually from Platform 4 which is at the rear of the station away from the shops etc, so allow time to find the train. Buy a day return ticket to North Berwick which costs £6.80. Alternatively you can drive to Longniddry, and get the train back from North Berwick (£4.70). If you're coming by car, it's helpful to let us know you plan on meeting us at Longniddry Station.
Walkers are responsible for their own safety, and no member or organiser from the group can be held responsible in case of any mishap. By signing up for this walk you are understood to have agreed to these terms
