Snowshoeing in Elk Island part II

  • to
  • Amisk Wuche

Elk Island National Park, Edmonton, AB (map)

    53.678825 -112.822624

  • Snowshoes are provided. If you happen to own a pair yourself, let us know so we can expand the number of participants. If there is not sufficient snow the event will be re-scheduled.

It looks like we are not going to have enough snow this week either. I will keep tabs on the weather and the event will be cancelled If the temperature is below -25. Otherwise prepare for a hike and If we get snow: snowshoeing.

We'll meet at The Amisk Wuche trail-head prior to the hike at 9:45 am. Bring warm clothes and footwear, water, and snacks for the trip as well. Cameras are optional but recommended as we might see wildlife along the trail. We will supply binoculars. Normal national park entry fees apply. Links to the fee schedule and maps http://www.pc.gc.ca/pn-np/ab/elkisland/visit/tarifs_fees_e.asp?Park=6 &

This is a public event. You don't need to be a member of the Friends to attend.

Please be aware that participating in Friends of Elk Island Society events (e.g. snowshoe hikes, hikes, canoe trips, citizen science, etc.) may entail strenuous physical activity, encounters with potentially dangerous wildlife, exposure to biting insects, and inclement weather. Please prepare accordingly. Dress for a day on the water and bring sunscreen/bug spray as required.

For map of the park visit: http://www.pc.gc.ca/eng/pn-np/ab/elkisland/activ/a/~/media/pn-np/ab/elkisland/pdf/EINP%20Trail%20Map_Eng.ashx.
