What we're about

Welcome to the Melbourne AWS User Group.

We are group dedicated to the cloud services provided by Amazon Web Services. Because we are specific to AWS we can go deep into some of the technical services provided by AWS and get some great insights into how their services work.

If you want to put your application in the cloud and have already chosen AWS, or if you already have applications in the AWS cloud, then this is a great group to get helpful insights and advice from other group members.

More information is available on our website. (https://melb.awsug.org.au/)

The Melbourne AWS User Group is not affiliated with any organisations and is independent from Amazon.

Our regular monthly meetup (on the last Wednesday of every month). Arrive at 6:00 pm for a 6:15 pm start. A huge thanks to our Gold sponsor Innablr (https://innablr.com.au) for their sponsorship across 2019. Don't forget if you can't make it on the night you can still watch the live stream: http://melb.awsug.org.au/live ---- # Agenda We have two presentations lined up this month: * Introductions and news * Christopher Grainger: Automating machine learning pipelines with AWS Lambda [Level 300] * Marketplace (Who's Hiring) * Pizza break * Matthew Merriel: Static Site Generators and AWS - are they a match made in heaven? [Level 200] ---- # Automating machine learning pipelines with AWS Lambda - Christopher Grainger Level 300 As a researcher and data scientist, I'm much happier when I can focus on research. But ML models need quick access to clean data and then need to make a journey into production, and both of these tasks are engineering-intensive. This talk covers the lifecycle of a cloud-based machine learning model from research to production, and how automating everything but the research using Lambda makes for happy developers and happy scientists. ---- # Static Site Generators and AWS - are they a match made in heaven? - Matthew Merriel Level 200 In this talk, I will go through the process of setting up the Gatsby static website generator in a brand new AWS account. We will go through the process of creating the S3 Bucket to hold the site, CloudFront to delivery it and CodeCommit & CodeDeploy to host and manage it's deployment. At we progress through the solution we will also take a look at the pros, cons and gotchas and decide if a Static Website is right for you. ---- If you'd like to get involved or present at a future meetup check out our website: https://melb.awsug.org.au/get-involved
