What we'll do

The World Economic Forum broadly estimates the value of illegal poaching trade to be between $7 billion - $23 billion each year, making Illegal wildlife trafficking the fourth most lucrative global crime after drugs, humans and arms.

Enter Silverpond; a boutique Melbourne consultancy taking on global challenges. Harnessing AI technology to create simple solutions to hard problems. Their latest challenge will be the focus of our Agtech Meetup.

In collaboration with a US based not-for-profit, Wildlife Protection Solutions (WPS), SilverPond has built an automated solution for detection of illegal poaching in conservation parks to be deployed across three continents.

Poaching not only afflicts the savannah's of Africa, and the jungles of Asia. North America too has its own unique battles with illegal and out-of-season hunting of protected species.

Silverpond is an AI and Data Science company for over 14 years helping organisations in Australia and around the world, tackle tough issues and topics in AI. They are a major supporter of women in STEM, female tech founders, deep research and considerations in ethics.

We'll be joined by two of their team of machine learning, software and design experts.
