What we'll do
Feel free to view our resources library, a growing document of links to podcasts, video talks, webpages and documents for all to access. These are resources relevant to our discussions, and are regularly updated after each meet:
There is a $5 fee for this Meetup
To clarify the purpose of these meets; they are regular small groups that discuss relationship development ideas, personal learning experiences and relationship problems. This includes close personal relationships, as well as family, work relationships and friendships; plus the proverbial relationship to ourselves and the world we live in (which, by the way, all seem to be interconnected).
While I can bring recent research, various theories and professional experience to the discussion; it’s the sharing and exploring of individual experiences (good and bad), and the related personal learning, struggles and joys, that is often most beneficial to groups. This is because (to roughly quote David Schnarch) "if theory is any good, we will get there by discovering what's true for you" - that is, better to discover theory (through exploration of personal experiences) than be taught.
From here we often end up discovering alternate perspectives and options - or creating uniquely new ones! The process of building relationships and connections during these meetings also play a key role; after all, another aim is to model what we learn about healthy relationships. :)
Look forward to meeting those of you who can make this group.
