What we'll do
We have a guest presenter this month! Geoffrey Sage runs the Melbourne Dev Meetup, and has been highly instrumental in getting the ServiceNow Dev Meetups across the country. Geoffrey is a Principal Technical Consultant, and works with customers implementing ServiceNow in our Customer Outcomes team.
The date has changed to avoid clashes with Now at Work event, and Melbourne Cup Day.
The content for this session is one that Geoffrey presented at the Melbourne Dev Meetup in September. If you need *another* reason to attend, check out the feedback from that event!
The session will be live streamed (thanks Auto & General!)
We will have an open discussion about something important to all of us. How many of you are finding more and more that when we start a new engagement, the customer has had the fear of God put into them about the dreaded C-word?... "Customisation" *DUN DUN DUUUUN!!!* https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cphNpqKpKc4
Today, customers are like "Ahh, we can't create a custom field because I'll have to write a business case and present it to the Design Council...". *internal screaming*
The "Configuration vs Customisation" argument is a gross oversimplification. I want to change this entire discussion into something that is much more realistic and meaningful. One that benefits everyone - customers and developers alike. Let's talk about how we can do that. I have compiled some thoughts and feedback from others on the topic and I would love to get your input.
