*Rescheduled* Surf at Currumbin, Gold Coast

Hi all! Due to the forecast of very big waves and strong winds, we are rescheduling this Meetup. Hopefully the cyclone swell moves the sand around and creates better banks! For those of you who are not familiar with this location, Currumbin is a semi-long point break with two main sections, depending on the sandbanks. First section is known as The Alley next to the rock point (generally for intermediate and above ability levels) with a second section called Lacy's (for the beginners and learners) further down the point past the creek. It is highly dependent on the sand movement and the banks change regularly. At the moment the sandbanks are dependent on what happens with this big swell. As a back up option we can surf one of the sandbanks just to the North at Palm Beach, which have been pretty good in the last few weeks. We will meet around 7:30am and hit the water soon after. No worries if you are a bit late, if the conditions are good we will be out for a few hours. Some information for Currumbin area:- - Car parking can be a bit limited if the surf is on, so get in early - It is quite popular so it can get quite crowded, be prepared to surf with many others...and maybe make some new friends in the line up! - there can be some water currents on a larger swell and outgoing tide, so be prepared to end up at Palm Beach and do the walk around back to Currumbin. Most surfers end up doing this For those looking to hire a board, just do a search online for the nearest surf shop that suits you. There are plenty close by. Alternatively you can hire boards in Brisbane from Goodtime Surfshop at Woolloongabba. See you there for a catch up over a few waves and a coffee afterwards. Ash
