What we're about

C'mon...let's all get outside, enjoy nature, and the company of fantastic people.

Brisbane Walkers is for people who like to walk; people (men and women) who want to ‘get out there’, in the open air and sunshine, socialising with likeminded people. It’s for people of most levels of fitness (we don't dawdle) and of all ages. So if you just love to walk, are trying to get fitter, lose weight, make new friends/new acquaintances or just at a loose end on the weekend – then come join us. You'll be most welcome!

Walks will be varied in length, in terrain and in surroundings. The minimum walk is one hour - half an hour one way, half an hour back. Nearly all walks will be in Brisbane and surrounds. Every now and then, a hike (over 10km) will be included in the schedule, and generally those hikes are outside Brisbane.

People walk at a medium pace or a fast pace - it all just works out on the day because we have catch-up points

There is always time to socialise, either midway of the walk or at the end. We have breakfast, a coffee/tea, lunch or dinner. There is no pressure on anyone to spend money; I know what it's like to be short of cash; so just enjoy the walk and have a glass of water, if necessary.

So....c'mon...don’t sit at home feeling lost or lonely, come join us!

Honeyeater Track to Mt Coot-tha summit - let's test those legs

The Hut Conservation Park Entrance

$2.00

The first half of Honeyeater Track is uphill for 2.5kms - no let up - on a defined dirt track, under dappled sunlight and through typical Aussie bushland. Take a look at the photos from our last walk, if you have time, to view the terrain. At the top, at Mt Coot-tha, we'll have breakfast at Kuta Cafe which has great views of the city. Time to take a breath and wipe off the sweat. Then we head down 2.5kms. This is a lesser known track than the one from JC Slaughter Falls and I prefer it. Meet in the carpark, guys! Anyway, see you all soon. I take my dogs on this walk but I have to find a good spot - in sight- to tie them up. They are not allowed around the tables. Bring water and don't forget the $2 fee for organisational and Meetup costs. See you soon! Julia PLEASE NOTE Brisbane Walkers is NOT a formal organisation and has no public liability insurance. Venman Bushland National Park 7.5km circuit (Mt Cotton)

Venman Bushland National Park

$2.00

Everyone really enjoyed this walk last year, followed up by a light brekkie at a nearby cafe. The track is classified as Grade 3 so it's not flat but undulating so you'll get a great workout. We'll be hungry for brekkie at the end. Drive through the SIGNPOSTED ENTRANCE and meet in the carpark. If no signpost, then you are in the wrong place, so keep driving. (You will probably think you are in the middle of nowhere and gone too far - you probably haven't!) One of the largest remaining areas of eucalypt forest in the coastal lowlands near Brisbane, this park and other forest remnants in the region are important habitat for koalas and other wildlife. The park protects the headwaters of Tingalpa Creek and its tributaries. For most of the year, the creeks are dry or reduced to a string of waterholes, as the creeks flow underground. This is a popular area so let's explore it. Don't forget water, probably sunscreen (we're walking under canopy) and the $2 fee towards organisational and Meetup costs. Pictured is us traversing around a large puddle last year. Good fun! See you soon! PLEASE NOTE Brisbane Walkers is NOT a formal organisation and has no public liability insurance. Evening walk (8kms) along Wynnum/Manly waterfront + dinner/drinks

Royal Yacht Club at front of carpark

$2.00

We will be walking from Manly to Wynnum, and of course back again - all up around 8kms - on hopefully a beautiful balmy evening. We will meet in the OUTSIDE carpark of Manly's Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron on The Esplanade (on the water side, of course). From there, we will stick by the water - with the breeze in our hair - and head to Wynnum. I have no plans for dinner but will advise. Bring water and please don't forget the $2 fee for organisational and Meetup costs. Looking forward to catching up with everyone. See you soon. Seven Hills Circuit (under canopy) - 5kms up and down - great workout

Seven Hills Circuit

$2.00

The circuit is only 2.5kms, but it is up and down so you'll get a great workout. We will do the circuit twice. It is under dappled sunlight most of the way and in typical Australian bushland. Brekkie will be at one of my favourite cafes, just down the road. Dogs OK. I'll be bringing mine. DIRECTIONS • Wynnum Road • Turn at Kmart, Cannon Hill down Creek Road towards Carindale. • Turn right into Richmond Road. • Turn left into Molloy Road. • Turn left into Brussells Avenue. PLEASE PARK CONSIDERATELY. • Meet at end of road at entrance to Circuit. Bring some water. And pls don't forget the $2 fee for organisational and Meetup costs. If the weather is iffy, pls check this page for updates. See you all soon! That's us pictured last year!
