Springwood Conservation Park (will do route twice) inc. Stairs of Death
We're bushwalking again, but this time on a maintained path. You will get a great workout on this walk. Wear non-slippery shoes. This walk is NOT suitable for everyone as there are uphill sections and a steep set of stairs. Check out the walk here: Springwood Conservation Park is a former quarry site, saved from development by the community and Logan City Council. We're starting at the Jardine Drive entrance where a carpark, picnic shelter and toilets are located. We will be taking the Gorge Discovery Circuit (1.45km) first and then take the Stringybark Lookout track (570m). Then we'll do it all over again. It may seem short but your heart will definitely be racing. The walk is under canopy, so forget the hat and sunscreen. We will be breakfasting at The Pantry which is about a 1.5km drive down the road - a great little place. Please don't forget the $2 contribution to the Meetup website costs. How to get there: 1. Turn left onto SPRINGWOOD ROAD off the M1, heading to the Gold Coast. 2. Go past KFC and Hungry Jacks. 3. Turn left into Watland Street - go to very end. 4. Turn right into Barbarella Drive. 5. Immediately turn left into Jardine Drive. 6. About 1km along on the right is the Park. 7. Parking is limited. You can turn into the Park; think there are 2-3 parks there. But there is street parking - be aware Jardine is quite a thin street. 8. We'll meet at the bottom of the stairs. See you there!

What we're about

C'mon...let's all get outside, enjoy nature, and the company of fantastic people.

Brisbane Walkers is for people who like to walk; people (men and women) who want to ‘get out there’, in the open air and sunshine, socialising with likeminded people. It’s for people of most levels of fitness (we don't dawdle) and of all ages. So if you are trying to get fitter, lose weight, make new friends/new acquaintances or just at a loose end on the weekend – then come join us. You'll be most welcome!

Walks will be varied in length, in terrain and in surroundings. The minimum walk is one hour - half an hour one way, half an hour back. Nearly all walks will be in Brisbane and surrounds. Every now and then, a hike (over 10km) will be included in the schedule, and generally those hikes are outside Brisbane.

People walk at a medium pace or a fast pace - it all just works out on the day because we have catch-up points

There is always time to socialise, either midway of the walk or at the end. We have breakfast, a coffee/tea, lunch or dinner. There is no pressure on anyone to spend money; I know what it's like to be short of cash; so just enjoy the walk and have a glass of water, if necessary.

So....c'mon...don’t sit at home feeling lost or lonely, come join us!
