Samuel Taylor Coleridge: The Rime of the Ancient Mariner (1817) - Parts 5-7
What we'll do
Tonight we are going to meet from 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM to complete the reading and analysis of a poem which, at the time, produced in English literature a critical shift towards Romanticism.
· Samuel Taylor Coleridge (1772 – 1834): The Rime of the Ancient Mariner (1798, 1817 edition)
We began the reading on the 19th of July, when we analysed Parts 1-4.
Tonight we will read Parts 5-7, and briefly analyse its versification/metrical structure/prosody, and any passage needing further clarification (such as archaisms, symbolism, figures of speech, etc.).

We are going to read the 1817 edition of the poem, which is slightly different from the original 1798 version.
