What we'll do
Such a nice thing to do on a Sunday morning, join us for some interesting chats about works of art at NGA.
This group has been active now for nearly two years. Not once have we had anything but a lovely gathering of people who share a common interest. Lots of chatting and sharing, learning and experiencing often pieces of work you might not know the artist or their stories.
The group works like this; Find a piece of art at NGA that interests you. Go home, read whatever you can find about that piece of art. Generally what happens is you start to read and the research takes you on a fun journey, you find out the stories about not only the art, but the artist, the time in which the piece was created, the world at that time, the influences that affected the artist. Great stuff! it's totally up to you as to what you would like to share with the group. A few words about any of these aspects relating to the piece is fantastic! Time to present is usually under 10 minutes as a rule.
For those new members, please don't be shy about presenting a piece you are interested in, remember you are with new friends, even two or three interesting facts for a piece you would like to share with the group would be great. 5-8 minutes is a good time to stand, listen, look and learn.
If you are interested in coming along please RSVP, if you are unable to attend could you PLEASE respond unable.
If you could let me know if you are going to present a piece that would be appreciated. Many thanks, happy researching, see you soon. Also, I have decided to continue with the Meetup site but will be accepting Gold Coin donations each meetup to help me pay for the Meetup site.
Many thanks Deb
