What we're about
The Central Coast has many women to connect with. We all have stories about ourselves, who we are and what has happened to us. This group is a safe environment for women who want to help themselves and would like support from others. We believe this can be achieved through sharing our stories, learning from each other and using that knowledge to create our own path.
We are not counsellors but women who have been through trying times and are learning to recognise and not repeat the same past experiences. We want to provide a supportive, friendly and relaxing environment for all women who are wanting to make a change and find a new path. This can be done through learning different ways of thinking, changing your beliefs and by doing this empowering yourself.
We have organisers that arrange a variety of events for everyone to enjoy. Sharon and Lisa started this group in May 2016 and organise ad hoc events. Both work full-time juggling the group responsibilities but their work attests to their passion in ensuring women from all parts of the Central Coast have events on offer. Members are encouraged to suggest events in their area! Sharon likes breakfasts and brunches, plays and music venues; whereas Lisa has organised well over 100 events since the group formed in May 2016!
Since the group formed our leadership team has grown. We have many talented event hosts! Kate organises events on the artistic/creative side such as plays and talks. Nardia organises nights out, Laycock Theatre events, and walks during the day. Linda organises one of our popular trivia teams. Barbara has events in Wyong and further up the Coast. Marie organises events for members who reside close to the Entrance. Lesa has regular morning or afternoon tea events on the Peninsula. Our group of event hosts continue to grow so if you have attended a few events and would like to host events please let us know!
We have a Facebook group of the same name where you can find information about events on MeetUp, photos of events, and/or post information to help others. Our Facebook group has about 460 members!
We are pleased to see this group is so popular and look forward to you joining us and forging your own social network within the group.
Once you have attended events, if you have had a positive experience, please take some time to contemplate if there are others you know that would benefit by joining this group. We want to help all women on the Coast that may be isolated for one reason or another. Women are always stronger when they have a solid social network!
Members are always welcome to bring their friends. We also have events where males are welcome. There are times we partner with other MeetUp groups for events as well.
If you would like to join this group then it is under the condition that you are able to be responsible for your RSVP to events. Why is this important?? On some occasions we have to make bookings for tables at venues and we want to be able to return to these venues. Some venues get frustrated if we book for 10 people and only five arrive. It is also disappointing for the event hosts who volunteer their time, free of charge, so this group can continue.
It takes a small amount of time to update your RSVP to NO if you are not attending, so please make this a mindfulness thought if you decide not to attend an event. We do remove members if they have three or more 'no shows.'
You are also responsible for your own safety. We do not take responsibility for any injury which occurs whilst you are attending an event. Attendance is at your own risk.
We look forward to meeting you!!
