- ⚛️ 295 Days in Detention! US ImmigrationMurdoch Travel, Barrie, ON
Please join us for our regular monthly meeting, Tuesday, April 30, featuring Innisfil resident and business owner Cheryl Clark, speaking about her experience of 295 days in a US immigration detention centre.
After 16 years living and running a business in Arizona, she had allowed her visa to lapse and was caught up in a police sweep of illegal immigrants. Cheryl experienced first-hand the inhumane treatment of refugees and asylum seekers in the "dysfunctional" American system.
Read more about her experience as covered in Collingwood Today. Come hear Cheryl's story and discuss how we should advocate for the human rights of refugees and asylum seekers.Try before you buy: first 3 meetings are free. All Humanists, atheist, agnostics and any friendly people are welcome out. We also have a pre-meeting dinner (see separate event).
We are starting after not having any presentations since the pandemic. We typically had about 15 people out per meeting. Masks are welcome.
We will meet at the offices of Murdoch Travel, located at 28 Currie St., Unit 5. When you enter the parking lot, you'll see a loading bay. Drive to the right side of the building and you'll see the Murdoch Travel sign at the far door.
Every month we have interesting meetings discussing science, logic and compassion. Check out our website at http://www.cohumanists.ca/ to see our topic list and upcoming meetings.
