Sing Ong Tai Chi
Tai Chi Chuan is practiced for health and self-defence, following the rich tradition passed down through Cheng Man Ching (Zheng Manqing) and Huang Sheng Shyan (Huang Xingxian) to Professor Yek Sing Ong, the founder and grandmaster of Sing Ong Tai Chi. The class starts with exercises then we break into smaller tutorial style groups to work in more detail. Tai Chi is a martial art known for its calm movements and reliance on accuracy and softness, rather than strength and brute force, to overcome opponents. The result is a highly effective and precise martial art that equips students with a comprehensive set of techniques and tactics for self-defense, whilst simultaneously encouraging relaxed and efficient movement. Tai Chi stretches the muscles, frees up the joints, relaxes and correctly aligns the body, has natural breathing, and promotes circulation, leading to some of the amazing health benefits. With the correct intent, timing and feeling; the movements are totally natural and in proportion for the body. Even a basic application of the principles in the exercises is very beneficial for health. The same principles and movements that are great exercises for health are also prerequisites for application of this rich and highly sophisticated martial art. What we're about

This is a school for people interested in learning Tai Chi for health and self defense. We do Yang style tai chi, as taught by Cheng Man Ching (Zheng Manqing) to Huang Sheng Shyan (Huang Xingxian). Yek Sing Ong, the founder of Sing Ong Tai Chi, learnt tai chi from Huang for 30 years. Come and learn in a friendly comfortable environment. Beginners welcome.
