Speaker 1 : Professor Rafael Calvo, Director of Positive Computing Lab at University of Sydney
Rafael A. Calvo, PhD (2000) is a Professor at the University of Sydney, an ARC Future Fellow, Director of Positive Computing (http://www.positivecomputing.org/) Lab and Co-Director of the Software Engineering Group that focuses on the design of systems that support wellbeing in areas of mental health, medicine and education. He has spoken at Facebook, Yahoo, Oxford University, Google, Stanford and many more.
Professor Rafael Calvo will share his insights on how all technologies can be designed for positive wellbeing, and some of his exciting work in developing the e-mental health landscape within Australia. He has worked closely with the likes of the Brain and Mind Institute at Sydney University, Young and Well CRC, Reachout.com, Black Dog Institute and more as the lead researcher on a variety of national digital mental health projects.

Speaker 2: Jane Nethery, Senior Program Manager for Reachout.com
Jane is a Senior Program Manager - ReachOut Schools, responsible for managing the engagement and delivery of Reachout’s technologies within the education sector. Some of these tools include Worrytime app, Breathe app, and Reachout.Orb game amongst others. She has also been involved in the development and delivery of Mind Matters, the national secondary school online mental health and wellbeing initiative.
Some of the key topics Jane will be touching on include:
- The process Reachout went through in developing their digital tools
- Where technology has been successful, and where it hasn’t in delivering optimal mental health outcomes
- Considerations to take into account for individuals looking to build digital mental health technologies, particularly partnering with organisations to trial and deliver your intervention
