Ever wondered how blockchain technology can be used beyond the sphere of cryptocurrencies? Come to Jembi on Tuesday 11 June at 18h30 and hear our very own Herman Smith speak about his work on ixo.world before he jets off to Portland in July to present the same talk at O'Reilly's OSCON 2019 (https://conferences.oreilly.com/oscon/oscon-or).
About the talk
ixo is the Blockchain for Impact, helping individuals and organisations around the world to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals by 2030. It is open-source and gives everyone the power to deliver, evaluate and invest in sustainable social, environmental and economic development. Using blockchain technologies and Web3 standards, ixo enables all measurable changes to be transformed into Verified Impact Data with crypto-economic Proof of Impact. This is recorded in real-time, in an ecosystem that is owned by everyone.
About the speaker
Herman Smith is an experienced software engineer who has served as technical lead on various projects including ABSA's NovoFX forex app. When he is not exploring the blockchain or digging into AI (at SQN, where he now serves as Principal Software Engineer), he can be found somewhere in the great outdoors of the South Peninsula and beyond with his wife, two boys and two Jack Russels.
