Hear it here first… “He said what?” Social media and funding topics always seem to draw a bigger crowd. I mean who wants to talk about cyber security? It’s too complicated. It’s too hard. Who wants to steal my data? It’s too expensive to do anything about anyway. You won’t want to miss what Marcus promised will be an animated discussion around the the things coming out in the cyber space arena that maybe everyone is not talking about yet. You’ll be saying, you heard it here first. And as far as who cyber crime affects? You don’t have to have millions in your back account and you don’t have to be a rocket scientist to take basic security precautions. Told you. This is talk you won’t want to miss! Networking starts at 5:30 PM - Speaker around 6 PM Marcus Green is a 27 year retired US Army military cybersecurity officer who is the President/CEO and Founder of Socratec Cybersecurity. He’s a life-long learner who’s held multiple positions to include Lead Security Engineer at the US Navy’s Naval Sea Systems Command Futures Division, Information Systems Security Officer at Oregon State University, and Information Technology Company Commander for the US Army. Most recently he served as a Senior Security Incident Response Analyst providing cybersecurity expertise while working closely with the US Special Operations Command at MacDill Air Force Base. He is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), and Certified Advanced Security Practitioner (CASP). Marcus is a doctoral student at the University of South Florida with a research focus on insider threats within the cyberspace. He received a master’s degree in information technology management in 2014 from Webster University in Missouri and bachelor’s degrees in organizational leadership from Waldorf University (2012) in Iowa and business administration from Columbia Southern University (2008) in Alabama. Susan’s journey is rich and full. You will be moved to laughter and tears as she shares a story that will change who you are as you face the most beautiful and challenging of circumstances. Networking starts at 5:30 PM Speaker around 6 PM Susan Scherer’s medical career spans over 28 years. Her experience ranges from working in trauma, diagnostic coding, neurological, medical and surgical intensive care units, neurological-oncology, endocrine cancer and disorders to oncological emergency medicine. She worked in England for the National Health Service at Ipswich Trust Hospital for 2 years, Susan has traveled the globe attending and participating in oncology research and acquiring an extensive oncology education learning the latest cancer treatments, best practices with emphasis in patient education and advocacy. Susan received her Bachelors in Science of Nursing at the University of South Florida and as has been a national speaker on various radio programs discussing cancer patient advocacy and entrepreneurship. Susan was employed by Moffitt Cancer Center from[masked] where she served on various committees improving patient and nursing processes. Susan Scherer founded RN Cancer Guides Solutions 2013 and the not for profit RNCG Angel Foundation 2014, which would allow her to have a greater impact on cancer care for patients and their families by breaking down the financial, medical and emotional barriers that she had witnessed firsthand. By appreciating and utilizing the intellectual capital and experience of oncology certified nurses, she is able to not only reach private patients but impact corporate by developing the first known ECAP™ (Employee Cancer Assistance Program) in existence. In 2017, Susan was instrumental in drafting House Bill 1253 which was put into law as of 7/1/17 updating Florida Patient Bill of Rights. Patients now have the right to bring a person of their choosing to an outpatient or inpatient healthcare facility while receiving a consultation or treatment. February 2018, Susan founded Heavenly Hash Creamery, creating a cannabis infused ice cream with high nutritional content for all patients especially those suffering from extreme weight loss and other conditions. Susan continues to serve on various business, entrepreneurship, education and advisory councils to improve health care throughout the United States. Throughout her career, Susan has dedicated herself to serving others: •Susan served in the United States Air Force. •She was named a Florida Hospital Hero in 2006 by the Florida Hospital Association for herefforts to help victims of Hurricane Katrina. In 2013, she was 1 out of 4 National finalists for theOncology Nurse Excellence award presented by the Academy of Oncology Nurse Navigators. •May 2014, Susan received the Avella C.A.R.E. Award for Outstanding Nurses •July 2014, Susan was named Tampa Bay Business Journal 2014 Healthcare Hero Finalist. •Susan served on the Greater Tampa Oncology Nursing Society as their Legislative Liaison. Co-Chaired Southwest Cancer Control Collaborative •She also served on the Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) National Nurse Navigation SIGLeadership Board •Closely involved with ONS Health Policy in Washington DC and on the State level. Entrepreneur, Educator, and Impact Advocate Dr. Andy Gold – Shares his story and a few of his favorite do's and don’ts When you think of someone who just keeps doing the right thing because it is the right thing to do, not because their name will be on the building, or that they will win the trophy or have their name in the paper or listed on a web page somewhere…for us at Station 2 Innovation and Spark Growth one of those someones is Dr. Andy Gold. For a change, we are going to have the opportunity to hear Andy, share about his journey and what drives him to do the work he does, as well as a few of his favorite lessons he would like us to take away. A little about Dr. Andy Gold Professor Andy Gold is the co-founder of the HCC Center for Entrepreneurship and Operation Startup. Professor Gold developed and implemented an AA transfer track degree in Entrepreneurship, an AS for Business Administration and an Entrepreneurship Specialization Degree, in addition to the creation of four new courses related to entrepreneurship. Professor Gold also serves as the committee chair for the Veterans Entrepreneurship Training Symposium (VETS), now in its 4th year. Before joining the HCC faculty, Professor Gold worked as a Wall Street market strategist and founder of a private hedge fund. He also started and ran two entrepreneurial firms. He received his BA. in Psychology from State University of New York; his M.S. in International Business from Manhattanville College and his Ph.D. in Business Administration from Northcentral University. Professor Gold is the 2016 recipient of the National Association for Community College Entrepreneurship Impact Award.
