Active meditations, designed by rebellious Indian mystic, Osho, are a style of meditation that basically involve movement followed by silent stillness.
They were created for the modern person who, due to the pressurised conditions of modern society, finds traditional sitting meditation overly challenging, and resultantly ineffective. Osho realised that sitting in traditional meditation is unsuited to a society that is mind/brain-dominated, stressed, restless, and experiencing suppressed emotional turmoil.
Active Meditations were scientifically designed to get us out of our heads and into our bodies, to express and unblock our repressed emotions, and finally find the bliss, clarity, and stillness we seek in doing meditation.
They are hour long meditations completed in stages done to music. Whilst done in a group, it is an individual process done with your eyes closed throughout, and preferably with a blindfold (provided). Of all the active meditations, OSHO Dynamic and OSHO Kundalini are the most widely practised. Please see scheduled events for more detailed information on each meditation.
**IS IT FOR ME?** These meditations will be effective for you if you: - struggle, either physically or mentally, to meditate using traditional methods e.g. have constant thoughts during meditation, cannot get comfortable, and/or have a lot of resistance to maintaining a meditation practice. - have gotten to a place of stagnation in your practice and want to achieve new levels of bliss - feel lacking in creativity and would like to tap into new energies - want to have fun and move while meditating - feel like you may a lot of repressed energy or emotions that you want to fully express but don't because society does not allow for authentic emotional expressions.
Meditations will run from Yoga Space Fitzroy. Dynamic at 6.45am on Mondays, and Kundalini at 5pm on Wednesdays.

The meditations will be facilitated by Sophia Leone of Earth is a She. Initially a complete sceptic, Sophia credits Osho with "a cosmic shift in my whole perception of life as I knew it". For her, Osho active meditations have been the chisels that successively chip away the layers of conditioning that allow her to drop back into her soul's centre. Sophia is a certified Osho Active Meditation Facilitator, a Certified Yoga Teacher, and also facilitates sacred women’s work.
