This Fabulous Ladies group was first set up by Wendy T in May 2018, with the intention for it to be a relaxed, friendly & fun group for women to connect & make new friends and generally have a bit of a giggle!
It is a lot for one person alone to manage so in January 2019 a group of members stepped up to take on the joint role of hosts/organisers, so at present there are 9 of us as ‘Co-Organisers’.
We’re from all walks of life and the group’s membership is open to all Fabulous Ladies in their 40’s/50’s. You could be local to Hinckley or live in the surrounding villages or live in Leicester or maybe you’re new to the area and want to get your social life up & running?
As a women’s only group, one of our aims is to encourage and energise fellow members and generally ‘be there’ for new found friends to offer support if they’re going through tough times and help them regain that all important confidence and ‘girl power’!
We’ve met in the past for meals/drinks out, walks, afternoon tea, Panto, Christmas events like wreath making, quiz nights, theatre, themed party nights, charity fashion show, Sunday roast, outdoor cinema screening, Escape Room challenge and Tribute nights. The list goes on and all ideas are always welcome.
How to join
We are always happy to see new faces, so to join, please just fill out your details, answer the questions and also upload a head & shoulders facial picture of yourself as this helps members to recognise each other at events and to welcome new members.
The group is free to join initially for the first month and you can attend as many scheduled Meetups as you like in that time. If you wish to continue to be a member, we’ll then ask you to either make a £6 subscription payment for 6 months membership (runs 1 March to 31 August 2019, then 1 September 2019 to 29 February 2020) OR if you join part-way through the 6-month period, £5 for 5 months etc., The bank account details will be sent to you when payment is due. If you don’t want to remain a member 😞 then a member of the organiser team will remove you so we know who’s active and who isn’t. This payment goes towards paying Meetup’s subscription fee. Any surplus will go towards paying for group costs.
As a result of the change of organisers, we’ve made a few changes as we want the group to run as simply as possible.
· We now have a bank account for the group so the onus isn’t on one person (and their personal bank account) to pay deposits into for events, etc.
· Collecting monies in before an event can be an issue. It’s not an organiser’s responsibility to chase attendees up for money; it’s no fun and will potentially put organisers off organising events in the future. Therefore, when a cost is applicable to an event please can you either:
make your payment (deposit or full payment, advised by the organiser) within 72 hours of making your RSVP.
make your payment (deposit or full payment, advised by the organiser) on or before the deadline date specified.
Unfortunately, IF payment isn’t made within the timescales set then your RSVP will be cancelled by the host/organiser of that event and if applicable your place offered to a member on the ‘waiting list’. Sorry if this decision is taken by some as unwelcoming, but it’s to assist in the group running smoothly.
· If you have any particular dietary requirements for meals out; vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, etc., please can you personally advise the venue of your name, the group’s name you’re attending with – Fabulous Ladies - and your requirements.

Please try to only RSVP yes to a Meetup if you’re sure you’ll be able to make it. Although we fully understand that other commitments do crop up out of the blue, if a member frequently either doesn’t show or changes their RSVP last minute then as the organisers of this group we reserve the right to cancel that person’s membership & remove them at our discretion.
