This group is a place for independent game developers who live in the Silicon Valley (near San Jose, Mountain View, Palo Alto, and Los Altos) to discuss design trends, platforms, tools, testing and sales techniques, the media, the IRS, lawyers, cloning, pirates, advertising, publishers, stupid mistakes we've made, and anything else that is relevant to an indie developer who wants to successfully make it in the games industry.
There are DOZENS of game development events and groups with very specific topics in the Bay Area. Attempting to go to all of them is insane. Let's use this group to discuss what we've learned at other venues. This will be our crowdsourcing for indies project!
Come join us for an evening of games, food, and fun at the UCSC Silicon Valley Indie Playtest Night! Play new titles currently in development. Meet the creators behind them. If you have a game for playtesting, bring it and get valuable feedback. Everyone is welcome, and the event is free for all participants. :)
For those bringing their own games for playtesting, please register here and also fill out this space requirements form (https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScCnXgbje9WqQj_52VylMuGfc2NUaQprM_spgI3ZnTblGI77A/viewform?usp=sf_link). Space will be provided for everyone who signs up at the above link. Please specify in the form if you need additional space (such as for room-scale VR) so we can make space accommodations beforehand.
NOTE: This event is open to the public and on the first floor of the UCSC Silicon Valley Campus (3175 Bowers Ave, Santa Clara). Parking is free in the lot outside the building. Please show up 30 minutes early to setup your game if you are playtesting it.
No form of harassment or assault will be tolerated. If you feel unsafe, uncomfortable, or see someone being treated with disrespect, if you feel able to please speak up or inform an organizer. I can also be reached online via Meetup chat, or via email (mason.remaley+[masked]).
