What we'll do

Leeds Frontend welcome all to this free event. Come along for a good time, listen to some interesting talks and mingle with fellow like minded people over some food.

Talk 1-
An introduction to CSS in JS - Thomas Drake
Technical Architect @ Blue Lilo

A quick introduction into the pros and cons of CSS in JS

Talk 2-
Spot The Difference: Visual Regression Testing for Front End Applications
- Sam Edwards
Sky: Senior Developer

Testing CSS changes is hard.

Sometimes even the smallest of alterations to a stylesheet can result in unexpected visual bugs. Despite the beady eyes of QA testers doing an excellent job of noticing when regressions occur, sometimes unwanted changes to our UI can slip through the cracks. Visual regression libraries are thankfully available to do a lot of the heavy lifting for us.

This talk will focus on one such library, BackstopJS. This software identifies visual differences between two versions of the same application. If changes are found, they are highlighted to the committer, allowing the validation of expected alterations and the spotting of pesky unexpected styling bugs before they make their way into production (or even in front of a tester!).
