What we'll do

Welcome to the launch of the Melbourne APIs meetup. Our launch will coincide with APIdays and will be a good chance to warm up for the event happening over the following couple of days.

Speakers on the night.......

KK (Technical Principal, Contino)
"Open Banking APIs"

Open Banking initiative is the result of Australia's "Consumer Data Right (CDR)" legislation. Under this new law, banks are required to make the data they hold about a customer, available to the customer or third parties authorised by the customer. The data will be made available via a standardised set of APIs.

In this talk, KK will explore the APIs and related work being done by the Consumer Data Standards group which was established for the purpose of standardising the technical implementation of Open Banking. CDR is being rolled out first for the banking sector and will be followed by energy and telecommunications, eventually covering the entire gamut of industry. As such there will be significant demand in the industry for people with experience in these APIs and standards.

Jay Desai (Solution Architect, NGINX)
"API Architectures"

Jay will cover the various deployment pattern architectures one can deploy to cater for Monolithic, Hybrid or modern Microservices based applications. Additionally, he will also cover the challenges and solution of service-to-service communication (East-West) in the modern API driven architectures.

We will have plenty of food and drinks going around too.

We look forward to seeing both familiar and new faces at the launch of this meetup!
