Jan '19 News ... we finished last year with our anniversary concert which was a wonderful success, the audience even surprised us with a spontaneous standing ovation! Now we're beginning a new year with new goals and challenges. Rehearsals begin next week and we'll be getting straight into our regional competition preparation. Our first open rehearsal for visitors will be Feb 6, see events page for details.
About Melbourne Chorus
We're a group of 60 energetic women of all ages (21 to 70+) and backgrounds who share a love of singing and performance. We get together every Wednesday night in the music hall at Kew East Primary School to have fun and sing in 4 part harmony a cappella, barbershop style.
What sets us apart is our organised approach and our reputation for the highest level of singing and musical education. Melbourne Chorus provides an opportunity to experience weekly vocal coaching, personal growth and performance within a supportive community of like minds.
We have a wide repertoire of songs from our signature barbershop to early Gaelic and current radio hits, and we perform across Melbourne and Australia in concerts and competitions.
We would love to see you at our next open rehearsal (see our events page). Visiting rehearsal is a great way to find out more about us and see if we are a good fit for you. To get more details you can RSVP and/or message us through this site.
Do you love to sing? Maybe you enjoyed singing groups/musical performance in the past and you're looking for a way to bring it back into your life.
Are you looking for a way to lighten your life, have fun and be part of something bigger?
Do you want to join an award winning group where anything is possible?
Whether your voice is high or low, soft or strong there is a part for you. You don't need to read music - we provide learning materials, education and coaching.
If you're feeling inspired but maybe a little daunted here is what a new member had to say...
'Having never sung as part of a chorus before, I felt a little nervous coming to rehearsal on my own but this is such a warm and encouraging group that I immediately felt very welcome. Rehearsal is enjoyable, energetic and skill-building – I learnt heaps and really enjoyed being able to join in straight away! ' (You can read other member experiences under 'Group reviews')
If you're interested in finding out more about our style of singing a cappella message Ros from our membership team at chorusInfo@melbournechorus.org.au or message her through this site.
