Monthly repair session - plus RRFM (really really free market)
The Melbourne Repair Cafe (Inner West) holds monthly repair sessions where volunteer fixers show and wherever possible share their skills with community members who learn how to fix your broken or torn stuff for free. In addition to our usual repairs of clothes, bikes and broken household goods, we'll be hosting a "really really free market" (RRFM) on the day. A RRFM is where anyone/everyone is invited to bring their unwanted things (in good nick) to give away along with any skills or talents they want to share - say, how to solve a rubics cube, master the art of juggling, cut hair, or play a song. People don't have to bring something to take or learn something. The repair session will run from 10am until 1pm. If you can, come along around 9:45 to help out with set up and take down. Anyone bringing things to give away has been invited to come early as well (around 9:45) to set up. If there are unclaimed useable items at the end of the day, they'll be given away to charity. If you can, please bring along a yummy homemade baked treat to share with folk who bring in their broken household goods. Bring your tools and any spare projects you want to work on or demonstrate fixes with. And of course, bring any items you want to give away, or talents you'd like to share! GETTING THERE: If you're travelling by public transport, you can catch the 409 bus from Yarraville or Footscray train station - it's a 5 or 8 minute trip to the corner of Stephen and Francis Street (opp the community centre). There's also a carpark adjoining the community centre and free parking in the surrounding streets. What we're about

Do you like to fix and tinker with things? Are you interested in helping others learn how to repair their household items, building knowledge and community while avoiding items going to landfill - AND reducing the need to spend more money while using our finite resources more efficiently? Do you like to organize and connect community groups and local residents? Are you good at teaching and sharing knowledge? Do you have tools or a space to share? If so, then this is the place for you!

This is a gathering place for fixers, teachers, organisers, space owners and change makers across Melbourne to gather so that we can hold "Repair Cafe" events in the community, primarily focussing (or starting) with Melbourne's inner western suburbs with the option of branching further afield as we grow.

Please fill out your profile to help identify your interest and what you have or know or can share. Please pass this onto your friends, neighbours and colleagues who may be interested in participating. And come join our Facebook group where we can share ideas, articles, videos and other resources - https://www.facebook.com/groups/melbournerepaircafe/. You can also visit our website at http://www.melbournerepaircafe.org .
