What we're about

We’re First Tuesday the network for all businesses that want to make a difference. For people or organisations that either want to do good, or have values and ethics embedded into their business. This can include all charities, social enterprises, micro providers and profit making businesses. We believe we can learn from each other and encourage a way of working that incorporates ethics and good practice into business. Doing this also benefits people, the community, and the environment.

Come and join us on the First Tuesday of every month at THiNK (https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/o/think-in-ng-11943047189)

The common thread that all these businesses, charities, social enterprises and micro providers is that they want to make a difference- to Nottingham, to the world, and to people’s lives.

So we’ve brought them together under the banner- First Tuesday- the name of our network meeting.

We offer monthly network meetings- First Tuesday - Don't miss those!

First Tuesday is the name of the monthly meeting. They are always at Think - on Cobden Chambers, Off Pelham St, Nottingham, NG1 2ED. They start at 6pm (ish..) and go on to about 8pm.

We usually have a speaker. Then we have some information that you might find useful. And the best bit... we have time to connect and share with others....

and that's where the magic happens....

September First Tuesday Ethics in Business Network: MINDFUL BUSY-NESS

Do you get stressed and sometimes feel overwhelmed within your business? Have you been worried about the possibility of burnout? At this First Tuesday meeting we will be exploring how mindfulness, blended with your business can bring about awareness of what matters most to you. You will enjoy an evening of mindful conversation and discussion led by Manisha Patel, life coach and meditation teacher. The First Tuesday network is run by THiNK and we collect £5 on the door towards costs. We will be connecting with like-minded people who are interested in social and ethical business issues. Exploring as a community of business owners, what it means to implement mindfulness and furthermore how it opens you to your "inner wisdom". Your business/organisation is a reflection of you and by encompassing more presence of mind within your organisation you will gain more clarity, focus and creativity and overcome excessive stress and burn-out. You will have the opportunity to consider and expand your own inner capacity, and how mindfulness tools can really help to bring about a mental well-being-ness towards your busi-ness and busy lives. Having a presence of mind and awareness through mindfulness will see an encouraging expansion within your business. But ultimately will lead to a discussion where we can be more conscious and mindful of our own business ethics. And as you know as a business owner you are highly noted leaders playing an important part of shaping your community. Emma Torrance, co-owner of THiNK will be hosting tonight’s network. She has a SFEDI practitioners qualification in advising businesses & specialised in Social Enterprise, and has worked with many freelancers, private businesses and social enterprises. Emma currently provides mentoring and workshops, as well as co-managing THiNK. You're invited you to join us, and like-minded others to do some thinking, exploring, & talking about ethical business issues. (For this network we collect £5 on the door towards costs). Who should come? At THiNK, we work with individuals and organisations, many are interested in social and ethical business issues. This First Tuesday Network is for those that may be stressed or overwhelmed, or just wondering how meditative practices could help their business or freelance practice. We collect £5 on the door towards costs, £3 for unwaged. Snacks and hot drinks are available for sale.
