OPEN for MEMBERSHIP. 18 y.o. and over. Our main coordinator /Skipper, Andrew G Dunn (he and this Club is on facebook) has several boats which he allows the club to use at NO COST TO MEMBERS. This is a cruising club (no racing) only for those interested in sailing/boating. NOT not for once-off day trippers. We will teach you "the ropes". You are expected to learn from more experienced crew and to contribute to the workload associated with sailing and cruising, including galley (kitchen) and cleaning duties.
OCEAN.. "Elizabeth". 12 metre Northshore sailing yacht. We sail on weekends for trips to Garden/Carnac/Rottnest Islands/Rockingham - generally a max of 6 adults. ALSO .. 5.5m RIB ( inflatable ) "Northie" capable of tripping Freo to Rottnest Is by itself and/or with
RIVER ..."Northie" as above Also a fast and furious TRIMARAN for 2 to 3 young nimble crew wearing wet-suits. Fridays generally we do a City Lights trip with riverside visits to cafes/restaurants/ pubs
SOCIAL ... Our sailing is very SOCIALLY ORIENTATED and you will meet a lot of different people from around the world and across a wide age range. The unfit/overweight need to confine themselves to river trips. We take photos and videos during events and post them on the Meetup site and Facebook. You must advise us if you wish to remain anonymous.
SAFETY ... All crew are expected to take orders from the Skipper and more senior crew. Legally the Skipper is responsible for you when aboard and your safety can only be guaranteed by you immediately obeying orders.
CANCELLATIONS ... Crew will be likely to be removed from membership for last minute less than 48hr cancellations without good cause. The Skipper determines if the weather is suitable/safe .. not individual crew members. If you cancel a the last minute due to the weather you will be removed from the group (as will anyone with a major misdemeanour). Also in under 48hrs preferably 72hrs it does not give the person on the wait list sufficient notice as the notice will probably go into their email junk box.
WE MUST HAVE YOUR MOBILE NUMBER... this is for safety reasons and also for communicating and coordinating during events. Your number will be shared with the leadership team, but not with other members without your permission. [Don't enter your phone number on this site, eg, when applying to join the group, as it will be published for all to see].
On your mobile phone, text (SMS) Andrew, telling us your Legal Firstname + Surname (e.g. "Janet Blake") and tell us if your Meetup name is different, (e.g. "Jan B").
