Writing Sesh @ The Oxford
Another writing session to get that productivity happening at The Oxford in Leederville. Format is a 5 minute warm-up exercise of writing to a spontaneous random topic, followed by longer 25 minute stints on any pieces of your own work that you want to concentrate on. In between, there's all manner of chat about writing in general. The Oxford has $8 pints all night, and have changed their menu to a quite scrummy $8 fish and chips box. Bring along pen & paper, laptop/tablet, or whatever suits for writing in a public space. The "garden" works out as the best place for writing lighting- and surface-wise. I'll post on the evening where our table is at. (If chilly, we'll try to claim the corner under the stairs in the "basement")

What we're about

This group was started in 2012. Meetings have been held on Thursday evenings at least monthly since then. Membership is fluid; there are no prerequisites or qualifications, except an interest in writing. It is not a group for professionals or even very published writers; it is for anyone who wants to write, passionately or otherwise. The purpose is to share experiences and ideas; and to encourage the achieving of aspirations. To do this we talk a lot, and we also 'critique' each others writing, on an entirely voluntary basis. We find a glass or two of wine, some food, candour, and as much humour as is possible towards the end of a busy day, all help a lot to inculcate upon each session positive and productive vibes - but to be frank each gathering seems to have its own dynamic. If you would like to meet other writers, whether actual, would-be, or anything in between, in a rigorously unstructured, and genuinely open discussion forum, come along!
