What we're about

Hello and welcome to Radiant Mind - Natural Awakening

If you're interested in nonduality, have questions, or issues you'd like to explore, in a relaxed and friendly environment, or want to find out more about the “Radiant Mind Approach” to awakening, this Meetup is for you.

Radiant Mind - Natural Awakening was formed in 2015 by a small group of students of Dr. Peter Fenner, interested in continuing to explore and share Peter's teachings and insights into non-duality, and his methods of transmission of nondual wisdom.

As our group draws together interested people from around Australia, and overseas, we generally meet via Zoom video conference calls. While this might not be what you were expecting, and can sound "technologically challenging", I can assure you it's actually very easy, and is a fun way to meet and interact with other members, so I do hope you won't be put off!

If you have never even heard of Zoom, or have any concerns at all about using Zoom I am also more than happy to communicate with you individually to explain how to Zoom works and "show you the ropes". It's free, and really is easy to use. All you need is a computer or smart phone, OR you can even connect using a simple dial up telephone. If you are interested in participating please don't hesitate to contact me for assistance, or simply RSVP to one of the advertised Discussion Groups. The best way to contact me is via email at: gregloats@optusnet.com.au

Our Radiant Mind Discussion Group meets twice each month, on the first and third Sunday of each month at 2 PM Australian Eastern Time, and are an opportunity for group members from around Australia, to connect, share, discuss, explore the mystery of experience, or simply rest together in "our natural state" ... unconditioned awareness. From time to time we have held "face to face" gatherings and workshops, and we plan to continue to do so when and where we can.

There is no charge to join our Meetup, or to participate in our discussion groups, but it is highly recommended that participants purchase a copy of the Radiant Mind book and Audio book at some stage as we use and refer to this material quite a lot.

Radiant Mind - Natural Awakening

Peter Fenner and the Radiant Mind Approach

The Radiant Mind Approach is direct and simple. Traditionally known in Buddhism as "direct introduction to the nature of mind” or the “awakening of self knowledge” it is based on the view that an "awakened state" of liberation, is always here, always accessible, and readily available to us right now. There is literally nothing that needs to be done, changed, overcome or achieved, in order to recognise and rest in unconditioned awareness, or to be in our natural state. This is it!

We call this, working at the “result level”, where the “result”, (abiding or resting as awareness), becomes the path, and our practice involves noticing anything we believe to be preventing us from recognising and resting as unconditioned/nondual awareness. These "obstacles" to unconditioned awareness may then be shared and explored through facilitated discussion, or contemplative enquiry, often to the point where they are "seen through" or simply "dissolve".

Unconditioned Awareness

All of the great contemplative traditions point to an awakened state of peace, happiness, freedom and fulfilment at the end of the spiritual path. This state has many different names, according to different traditions including: pure awareness, presence, nirvana, the end of suffering, Buddha mind, our true nature, no mind, egolessness, Rigpa, sat-chit-ananda, enlightenment. In Radiant Mind we will refer to this state as unconditioned awareness.

“While unconditioned mind may sound extraordinary, it isn't distant from our everyday life; it's always readily available to us” (Peter Fenner).

“This experience of boundless consciousness does not have to exist separately from our day-to-day, conditioned existence. Rather, we can learn to exist as unique individuals at the same time as we rest in a unified expanse of oneness with all existence,” in a state Fenner calls "Radiant Mind."

If you would like to find out more about our group or the Radiant Mind Approach please feel free to join us at "the end of the spiritual path", on one of our free conference call get togethers, or come to one of our events.
