What we'll do
Board games are a great way to connect with new people, especially if you’re not big on small talk when meeting someone for the first time. Sitting down at a table, sharing a game is a fun activity that nearly always leads to conversations and a few laughs. Forget about Risk or Monopoly, you’ll be playing easy to play, engaging games that won’t drag on for half the night.
When you arrive at The House of War and pay your $5 entry fee at the main counter, you (and at least one other attendee) will be randomly assigned a host. Your host will be very friendly and easy going, they will take their time to chat and get to know you as well as sit down to teach and play games with you and your new buddy. Throughout the night you’re likely to meet several hosts who will also introduce you to their new buddies. Just look for the person with the orange lanyard and your host’s name badge.
The House of War is fully licensed up until 11pm and they have a great selection beer, cider and champagne to choose from. If alcohol is not your thing then there is also soft drink as well as plenty of snacks to purchase.
As this is a licensed event you must be 18 years of age or older to participate.
Your $5 entry fee covers table hire and also gives you full access to The House of War’s game library. Not only will hosts teach you how to play games, they’ll also help you decide which games you’re most likely to enjoy playing! On top of that, if you’d like to purchase a board game on the night from The House of War, you $5 entry fee will get you a $5 discount on your board game purchase!
There is parking right out the front of the shop but it is limited. The easiest parking is just across the road in the supermarket car park. If you park close to Maroondah Hwy. near Macca's, it's well lit and nice and convenient to the pedestrian crossing.
The House of War is walking distance from Ringwood Train Station. Exit the station on the Maroondah Hwy. side, turn left, cross Wantirna Rd and follow the highway until you're almost at New St.
