What we'll do
July's book selection is The Lost Man by Jane Harper. Harper's last book we read (The Dry) was a big hit with plenty of discussion regarding writing style and story line so we brought her back for July. Imagine living in a place where your nearest neighbour is three hours drive away, where the rivers mysteriously flood when it rains somewhere far north, where fossilised sea shells mark the memory of a vast inland sea, and where men who leave their cars are rapidly disoriented and die under a relentless sun that bakes them to death. It's quite a recipe for murder.
If you don't get the book finished (or even started), don't be deterred, we'd love you to join us for a drink and a chat.
We do try to start on time, so please try to get to the venue with enough time to buy a drink before you join us. We are also not charged for the venue, so it is important that you purchase at least a drink (or food item). And don't forget to RSVP if you are planning to attend, so that I can keep the venue up to date with numbers.
We are a pretty friendly and casual bunch of ladies, so if you are new to Perth, or have been wanting to meet some like minded people, then don't be shy we would love to meet you!
Don't forget we will be holding a raffle every month. You can enter the raffle to win a hard copy of next month's book. Tickets are $2 payable at the event. This is a voluntary portion of the event, we still do not charge to attend our events. All money raised goes to the cost of running the club. Any additional funds will be donated to our charity of choice - The Indigenous Literacy Foundation.
