WHAT TO BRING AND WHERE WE MEET
We supply chairs and cushions but feel free to bring your own. We recommend parking on nearby Pudney Street. The room is next to Step Into Life West Lakes.
WHAT STYLE OF MEDITATION WILL BE TAUGHT?
The sessions will include a range of meditations from mindfulness and insight that Peter Radcliffe (Founder & Director of Skillful Mind) has found popular with retreat attendees over the years. Some meditations will be simple guided meditation, where you simply follow the voice of the Leader, and some will give your mind a bit of a workout - helping you become more aware of your thoughts and feelings. The teachings are non religious but many stem from ancient teachings of Buddhism, Hindi and other traditions. Everyone is welcome.
DO I HAVE TO HAVE EXPERIENCE IN MEDITATION?
Not at all. Our classes are designed for everyone. Complete beginners and experienced meditators are welcome to attend.
DO I HAVE TO GO EVERY WEEK?
To give even more value we now offer 'mini meditation 5 week courses' that will explore different ways meditation can benefit you in different areas of your life. You can come and join anytime, but we recommend you attend every week. This helps keep up your motivation towards a successful meditation practice that will enhance your life. Every week Leaders are provided with Skillful Mind session plans and attending all sessions will give you the benefit of a greater way of experiencing different kinds of meditations, and learn about what suits you. Sessions may or may not be run during school holidays - depending on venues and Leader availability.
WHY SHOULD I ATTEND WEEKLY MEDITATION SESSIONS?
Meditation and mindfulness are said to be the keys to happiness and joy. Building a daily practice can be challenging, and including a weekly session can help increase your motivation to make meditation a habit - and stick with it, while giving you the opportunity to share your journey with like minded souls.
HOW LONG ARE THE SESSIONS?
Sessions go for approximately 45/50 mins, but don't worry, you wont have to sit still all that time!
As a guide the sessions will include 2 meditations - to add to your 'meditation toolbox', and time for discussion in between. Our aim is to have you leave feeling refreshed and relaxed, and ready to make meditation part of your life for the better.
The first session is always free. If you choose to keep attending, our sessions are $15 for casual attendance of $50 for 5 classes. A card will be created for a 5 class pass. There will be about 3 months to use the 5 class pass, however these may be extended on an individual basis, just let us know.
