What we're about
Social Media Club Melbourne (@SMCmelb on Twitter (http://twitter.com/#!/smcmelb)) is the local chapter of Social Media Club (http://www.socialmediaclub.org/), a worldwide non-profit organisation whose mission is to connect media makers from around the world to advance media literacy, promote industry standards, encourage ethical behaviour and share the lessons they have learned.
The Melbourne committee is run by six people — our directors, Nikki Bannatyne (http://twitter.com/#!/nikski), Yvonne Adele (https://twitter.com/Yvonne_Adele), and Andy Cronin (http://twitter.com/#!/andycronin); our managers Bec Hay (http://twitter.com/bechay) (Event Manager), Emily Naismisth (http://twitter.com/emilynaismith) (Community Manager).
Participants come from many and varied professional backgrounds and tend to include media people, tech people and the digerati, as well as representatives from small/medium and large companies, NFP organisations. However everyone is welcome.
Please be aware @SMCmelb events are public; sometimes we live stream or record on video and upload to YouTube at a later date; some people in the audience record the presentation, while many others tweet about it using the #SMCMelb hashtag.
