For those looking for something social, fun and to learn something new in a safe LGBTIQ environment let's learn to dance! This event is in collaboration with Gay Partner Dancing meetup and Rainbow Dance and will be a mixed crowd from the LGBTIQ community. Join us upstairs at Universal Sydney, 85-91 Oxford Street, Darlinghurst for LGBTIQ Latin & Ballroom Dance Classes and sweep up the dance floor! Beginners Class starts at 6:30pm and goes to 7:30pm. After the class, feel free to stick around for a drink or join the Improvers Class (7:30pm-8:15pm) and/or the Intermediate Class (8:15pm till -9pm). We've got some specials deals for members of this Meetup Group: - Downstairs, if you or your friends mention the pass code at the door: "I'M WITH ED" you will receive a 20% DISCOUNT off making it ONLY $16!* (Make sure that they join this Meetup group so that the discount offer can be valid for them as well). * This offer is only for first time students at the venue. - And if you would like to do both Beginner and the Improvers/Intermediate classes it will just be an additional $10 each or do both (Improvers & Intermediate) for $15. (The regular price for each class is usually $20 each. Cash and Card both accepted for payment). These classes have a fun, interactive and engaging. There are no gender based dance roles so you'll have the freedom to learn either the 'lead' or 'follow' role. You can tailor your own learning experience. Come by yourself, with friends or with partner. The classes are very social so everyone always gets the chance to dance with someone! NOTE: Due to the venue capacity, and the desire to create the best learning environment for everyone attending, we want to keep to class size reasonable. We only have 20 spots available so do RSVP right away when you know that you can definitely come to claim your spot. Let's dance!
- Brunch At The Grounds Of The City
This month we are going to be having a casual brunch at The Grounds of the City. The Grounds of the City is located at Shop RG 12, 500 George St, Sydney the Galleries (Victoria) Building. Just a short walk from Town Hall station. This event is in collaboration with the Sydney Gay Asians and Boys Who Brunch meetup groups so we are expecting a mixed crowd. It would be a great opportunity to make new friends and catching up with old friends. Please let me know that you are coming by your RSVP. As I'm making reservations I need to confirm numbers so there's a $2 booking charge to ensure that people are seriously committed to attending to this event and to cover the cost of running this Meetup group. More info about the venue here -> https://thegrounds.com.au/Spaces/the-grounds-of-the-city/
- Board Game Night - October 2019
For those that are interested, we have been kindly invited to a Board & Social Games Night in collaboration with the Sydney Gay Asian Men Meetup group. This Games Night is a way for same-sex attracted Asian men (with lineage from North, South, East and West Asia) men plus their allies to be themselves, have fun and be social in a safe environment. Thanks to everyone who turned up to our last Games Night event. We had a fantastic turn out of 87+ people from our community! The night will begin with an ice breaker game (*optional) starting at 6:00pm or (until we reach enough players). The icebreaker will finish latest 6:30pm. The rest of the evening will be pretty casual, learning and playing tabletop games, and meeting new people. Feel feel to bring yourselves, snacks (particularly healthy snacks - they seem to popular) and soft drinks/juices to share, and your own food/dinner if you get too hungry. We will be going for a drink afterwards together for those who wish to join us. You can bring your own board games that you'd like to play or play the ones that we bring along. In the past this included Taboo, Anagrams, Sequence, Monopoly Deal, Exploding Kittens, Secret H*tler, Sequence, Connect 4, Sushi Go, Monopoly Deal and even more! Invite partners and friends are welcome (just RSVP as a plus one to help us better plan for attendee numbers). This particular event is open to guys who are not Asian identifying but are supportive allies but ideally should be invited and accompanied from someone from the community... not like a stranger walking in from the street. This event is open and inclusive of sexuality, gender, age (18+). Please RSVP via this post so that we know that you are coming along and can plan ahead to accommodate numbers. Also, I'm capping the RSVP to 20 attendees from this Meetup group to make sure that we are not overcrowding the venue, particularly as we are guests. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
