What we're about
This group provides a warm welcome, friendly and supportive environment to launch, nurture and develop your presentation skills. Part of Toastmasters International, our twice monthly meetings offers a comprehensive program to help you enjoy the process of getting up and communicating with others, on a range of topics both familiar and some you make up as you go (impromptu speaking).
If you find yourself in situations where you are terrified of public speaking - welcome to our club - its exactly how most of us came here!!!
By leading various segments of the meetings you learn Leadership and there are club executive roles you can volunteer for to take that to the next level.
Toastmasters learn to be highly adaptive when thrust into any situation requiring communication skills.
You learn from not only speaking yourself, but also from the feedback you get from others, by observation as well as by giving evaluations on other speaker's performances. Each modality of learning hones your skills.
Most people join because they have work related need to learn public speaking and wherever possible we endeavour to accommodate any special needs you may wish to practice. More often you find that any presentation, leadership or public speaking challenges you have, most members will have had the same experience.
We strongly recommend that you either live or work close to Lane Cove to maximise your chances of attending meetings, as peak hour traffic often makes it difficult to arrive at 6:45pm from further than 1 or 2 suburbs away.
