Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement lessons
AWARENESS THROUGH MOVEMENT was developed by Dr. Feldenkrais as a means to re-engage the nervous system in the kind of learning we all do as infants. The compositional structure of the lessons creates a conversation of sensing, feeling, resting and moving that engages your whole system in a process of organic learning where old habits can be replaced by new awareness and skill. Classes every: Mon 6.00 - 7.00 pm Fri 9.30 - 10.30 am *THERE WILL BE NO CLASS ON FRIDAY 2nd JUNE* $15 FUNCTIONAL INTEGRATION body work sessions are available by appointment. $70 each or BOOK A SERIES OF 5 FOR $300, SAVE $50 Please email [masked] to book your place on the day and time you would like to attend. What we're about

Do you want to be free of that nagging back, neck or hip pain? Would you love to connect with yourself in a deeply embodied way? Do you want to rediscover the ability to be as curious as a child and find that you can learn new information as easily as you did then? Would you love to be kinder and more connected to yourself and others?
Are you ready to let go of the belief system that being over a certain age means being less capable, healthy, flexible?

If you answered yes to any of the above, then join us. Sunshine Coast Feldenkrais offers a range of activities that are aimed at rewiring the neural pathways out of habits that no longer serve us. We come together in a creative space to learn, grow, move and connect. To explore physicality, mindset, consciousness and what is holding us back, so that we can live passionately, abundantly and free of pain.

WHAT IS Feldenkrais?

The Feldenkrais Method is a somatic educational system which aims to reduce pain or limitations in movement, to improve physical function, and to promote general wellbeing by increasing students' awareness of themselves and by expanding students' movement repertoire.

Feldenkrais taught that increasing a person’s kinesthetic self-awareness of functional movement could lead to increased function, reduced pain, and greater ease and pleasure of movement. The Method is experiential, providing tools for self-observation through movement enquiry and available to everybody, no matter what your pain level or mobility may be.

In his book The Brain's Way of Healing: Remarkable Discoveries and Recoveries from the Frontiers of Neuroplasticity, Dr Norman Doidge introduces the Feldenkrais Method as a powerful way of exploring the potential of the brain to change.

In Awareness Through Movement lessons, people engage in precisely structured movement explorations that involve thinking, sensing, moving, and imagining. Many are based on developmental movements and ordinary functional activities. Some are based on more abstract explorations of joint, muscle, and postural relationships. The lessons consist of comfortable, easy movements that gradually evolve into movements of greater range and complexity.

Awareness Through Movement lessons attempt to make one aware of his/her habitual neuromuscular patterns and rigidities and to expand options for new ways of moving while increasing sensitivity and improving efficiency. There are hundreds of Awareness Through Movement lessons contained in the Feldenkrais Method that vary, for all levels of movement ability, from simple in structure and physical demand, to more difficult lessons.
