What we'll do
Hi all. This event is now closed for RSVP’s. Please join the Snorkelling at Shelly Beach only meetup if you are keen to come along for that component. Thanks. James.
Shelly Beach Snorkel.
This is a repeat of a trip we have done a few times now. It’s an amazing adventure.
This was earlier this year. Take a look. https://www.meetup.com/en-AU/Sydney-Snorkeling-Meetup/events/258093929/
We will meet at Shelly Beach in the usual spot next to the BBQ area at 11am. Plan to be in the water at 11:30. Followed by coffee, soak up the sun and a catch-up on the grass. Then the road trip begins.
First stop, the Manly to Freshwater wormhole. Park in the car park at Cameron Ave. Google Maps ref is https://goo.gl/maps/Jgs1VoRLHs12
We can meet at The Salty Rooster ( http://www.saltyrooster.com.au/ ) and grab some lunch to eat in the park overlooking the beach. Then we will walk over to The wormhole.
Next stop, The Warriewood Blowhole. Google Maps ref is 71 Narrabeen Park Parade, Warriewood https://goo.gl/maps/MXMZVUHLFTx
This is a YouTube from the year before last.
It may not be to everyone’s taste. Pay particular attention to about 13:50 on the video.
Final stop, The Avalon Batcave, Google Maps ref is 62-68 Marine Parade, Avalon Beach https://goo.gl/maps/M4X6bjJp1dr
Last year, after exploring the cave, Sally broke out the portable cooker and we all sat peacefully on the rock platform below the bat cave and the towering cliffs above, watching the sunset over the wild sea. Enjoying freshly brewed coffee, tea and soup whilst awaiting the bats to fly out from their cave to feed.
We can work out transport and carpooling etc on the day at Shelly Beach or in the comments section below, feel free to ask for or offer a ride.
This is the link to last years event.
These are some of the photos and videos of the day to give you some idea of what you are signing up for.
So, we will meet at 11 am Next to the BBQ area at Shelly Beach to get this adventure underway.

Shelly is an ideal location for all levels, from beginner to advanced. Hopefully it will be a beautiful day.
Here is a YouTube video of our adventures here a while ago. With a bit of luck, there may still be some Port Jackson Sharks about as well as the Dusky Whalers. You should be able to see some Wobbegong Sharks, Blue Groupers and plenty of fish too.
A couple of our previous trips to Shelly here on Google Drive;
These may give you an idea of some of the sea life you might be able to see
Looking forward to seeing you there.
