Self-paced Web Developer Bootcamp

Needs a location

This invite is in conjunction with Free Code Camp (http://www.freecodecamp.org/) meet up being held at Bankstown Sports. You are encouraged to come to the venue but you do not have to, you can study in your own free time. Code.Sydney is constantly looking for ways to make Free Code Camp a success story in Sydney. To complement our journey, we are also doing a course from Udemy called 'The Web Developer Bootcamp' by Colt Steele on the side. This Udemy course will cost you around $12. Please note that we are not affiliated with the course provider or Udemy. You are welcome to join our slack channel to gain access to mentors https://join.slack.com/t/codesydney/shared_invite/enQtMzA4ODcyOTUyMDY0LTFlZDAyZjgwZmIzY2VmMzA0MjllOWI3YmE1NGZiNzQ5NGNmNjlhMGE5MTE1ZDA2NTU2OGRkZWQyYTQ3NDZmZGM We are a believer of Free Code Camp (http://www.freecodecamp.org/). We believe that anyone can learn how to code. However, finishing Free Code Camp takes time, lots of time. Rate of failures in Free Code Camp is high. We came across a blog which reflects typical roadblocks while doing Free Code Camp and the writer has sound advice for those who want to enter the world of coding. Have a quick read of his blog at https://medium.com/@tavillo1980/failing-at-free-code-camp-d593d3001838 We thought that establishing our own blog with the curriculum included may help promote targeted collaboration among trainees and mentors thereby increasing the possibility of completion. Bankstown Sports Club

The aim of this meetup is to encourage total beginners to start their Free Code Camp journey. If you are totally new to programming and want to learn, we recommend you to sign up for a free account at https://www.freecodecamp.org and just focus on doing the first section around 'Responsive Web Design Certification'. We have mentors on the day to assist you in going through this course. Your immediate goal is to accomplish 'Responsive Web Design Certification' which according to Free Code Camp requires around 300 hours to finish. It's pretty easy-going... we meet up at 10am and finish up around 12pm, although you can stay longer. We will meet at Bankstown Sports (a short walk from the station). If you reside inside the 5km radius you have to become a Bankstown Sports member, be signed in by a member or use a financial membership card from another club. Car park is free after ticket validation. Please bring your fully charged laptop. If you are not able to come on-site, join us via slack https://join.slack.com/t/codesydney/shared_invite/enQtMzA4ODcyOTUyMDY0LTFlZDAyZjgwZmIzY2VmMzA0MjllOWI3YmE1NGZiNzQ5NGNmNjlhMGE5MTE1ZDA2NTU2OGRkZWQyYTQ3NDZmZGM Looking forward to meeting you guys :)
