Let's play theatre games in the park! This is a group for grownups who still love to play recreational games outdoor, such as tag and statues. It is NOT a professional acting workshop - It is open to everyone who wants to enjoy playground game!

What is "Theatre Game"?

Theatre Game is a group activity to enjoy interactive creations through playground games. It is also commonly used as a warm-up exercise for actors before a rehearsal or performance, in the development of improvisational theatre. There are various types of games depend on age and number of people, but we basically choose easy exercises which can be participated by anyone.

What do we do in the meetup?

We will play recreational games in the park in the city center area. We play Tag, Red Light Green Light, Duck Duck Goose, and so on. Also, we try some theatrical exercises such as Mirroring and Still Image.

Where & When will the meetups be held?

The location should be big public parks in Sydney city, such as Hyde Park and Botanical Garden.

It will be mostly held in weekend afternoons.

Who can join the meetup? Can I bring my kids?

As the concept of this meetup is to enjoy games, members are expected to be communicative and physically fit. In order to play games fair and square for all attendees, I have to say members have to be 15 years old and up. If your mental is still remain childhood - don't worry. Me either.

I don't have any theatre experience. Can I still join?

Of course! As I wrote above, this group is open to everyone who is interested in playing theatre games. In other words, this group does NOT intend to train professional actors. (I'm not a professional drama teacher.) But actors are also welcomed as long as you love playing theatre games- I hope this can be a good opportunity for you to brush up your improvisational acting skills and inspire others!

Does it require any physical strength?

Not much. In some games such as tag, you may need to run and squat. Also, we may try abs and push-ups as a part of the game. But basically there will be no huff and puff, and all games never be compulsory. Whenever you feel tired or uncomfortable, you can leave the game and take a rest for a while at your own pace.

What should I bring to the meetup? What should I wear?

Just bring yourself with full of curiosity and energy.

Comfortable clothes & shoes easy to move your body are recommended. For example, jeans, T-shirts and sneakers are ideal. Or you may want to wear your favorite gym suit. It is winter season, so you may need a light jacket, water-bottle and sunscreen as well.

Can I suggest any games during the event?

Of course!! Actually, I welcome all suggestions and candidacy from members to take part in the games as a leader. I hope to get many creative ideas from members to produce fun and interactive experiences!!
