Conversation Design: The Rise of the Chatbot - Panel Discussion

The explosion of chatbots, wearables and Internet of Things (IoT) devices is changing the way we approach design. Could these new interfaces bring on the death of the screen? Imagine if consumers no longer relied on their phones for information, but relied instead on the integration of technology in all living, working, and social spaces. Amazingly, this is already starting to happen. Smart speakers like Google Home and Amazon Echo combine artificial intelligence and voice command, integrating design, technology, and information, all wrapped up into one neat product. Devices like these are changing the role of service, product, and user experience designers. We bring you the rise of conversation designers, with a panel of chatbot, IoT, wearable and User Experience (UX) Design experts. On the night, we’ll discuss: How chatbots are becoming a key communication tool The challenges with conversation design, and how it incorporates cultural nuances Why UX is crucial in designing effective chatbots The future of chatbot, IoT, and wearable technology Panel includes: Vivid Savitri (Head of UX, Breville) Mariza O'Keeffe (Narrative Director, a-kin AI) Dave Flanagan (Innovation Director, The Works Sydney & On Message) Marcus Robinson (Co-Founder & CEO of Stackchat)

The Neuroscience of Influence: Shaping Your Career

Event Description Our careers are truly one continuous iteration after the next. In fact, according to a report by Deloitte, on average, you’ll have 11.5 careers in a lifetime (careers not jobs!). As the growing gig economy and technology continuing to influence the way we live, work, and interact, how do you map out the future of your career? Despite the changing nature of work, success in our careers can be boiled down to how we influence and communicate. Mastering these elements determines whether we create the career we want or end up with the one that just happened. Learning to master these behaviours, starts with learning to master our own minds. Want to know how? Join Shelly Laslett, Founder of Vitae Coach as we explore: Design your career trajectory How to build and package your career portfolio to impactfully showcase your talents and experience How to confidently articulate your unique value proposition How to confidently communicate in an interview and perform under pressure. Shelley Laslett is the CEO and Co-Founder of Vitae.Coach (Vitae); a coaching company that combines neuroscience with technology. Vitae uses the principles of neuroscience, neuroplasticity, and brainwave technology to help people unlock their brain and accelerate personal and organisational growth. Vitae works with individuals, startups/high growth businesses and organisations focussing on strategy, growth and people.

Harness the Power of Empathy for Your Innovation Project

For millennia, humans have used imagery and stories to pass down information from generation to generation. Storytelling today has become core to our human nature and has become a key component within Human-Centred Design. To understand a story from another person’s point of view requires us to have empathy. Empathy provides a framework to synthesise research and discovery findings more effectively and efficiently. Put simply, in order to help people, we must understand first what the problem is. And this is where empathy comes into play. At our presentation, Harness the Power of Empathy for Your Innovation Project, we’ll explore: How empathy os created via storytelling using neuro-mirroring How empathy is used within the Double-Diamond process for design-led innovation How the storytelling framework can complement and support the discovery and research phase
