The Adelaide Movie Social Group is a social group for adults, 18 years and over, who enjoy going to the movies. We plan to go to the cinema at least a couple of times a month. Our meetup events will be opportunities for people to watch movies, meet other movie lovers, and make friends.
The cinemas of choice for this group are the Hoyts Cinema at Norwood, Event Cinemas at Marion, GU Film House (Event Cinemas) in the city and at Glenelg, and the Palace Nova Eastend Cinemas in the city. Our movie events will be followed by either coffee or a meal at a café near the cinema so members can socialise and get to know each other.
Some basic group guidelines:
The Adelaide Movie Social Group is approval only and you must provide a profile picture with a clear view of your face to have your membership approved. This makes it easier for us to find each other, especially the first time you come.
The organisers of the Adelaide Movie Social Group may choose to limit the amount of people who can attend an event, this is so people can socialise comfortably.
If you RSVP to an event and you can no longer make it for whatever reason, please change your RSVP to ‘No’. It is common courtesy to let other people know that you are no longer coming. No one likes waiting for people who aren’t going to show up. We could be buying our movie tickets, getting our drinks and nibbles, or finding our seats. People who do not show up or change their RSVP to ‘No’ less than 12 hours before an event starts (that dinner is booked for) for no good reason will be marked as a no-show. People who are repeatedly a no-show to events will have their membership closed.
The Adelaide Movie Social Group is a social group for people to meet each other face to face, not an online chat group. There is nothing wrong with writing to a friend you have made in the group, but writing to people you have never met can be seen by some to be a little creepy and not what this group is about. The best way to meet other movie lovers and make new friends is to attend our events.
Inactive members will be removed from the group. Members who do not log into the website for 3 months, or attend an event for 6 months, will have their membership closed.
The organisers of this group ask for you to make a gold coin donation when you attend an event. This is to help cover the cost of the website fees that we are charged to run a group on the Meetup website.
