Sunday Movie - "Sunset Boulevard," A Special Screening of the Hollywood Classic

Details
Join us for a special 75th anniversary screening of "Sunset Boulevard," an Oscar-winning film noir classic. Dark, twisted and thrilling, it offers a haunting look at Hollywood’s unrelenting cycle—where youth is currency, talent is fleeting, and no one stays in the spotlight forever. The film stars William Holden as Joe Gillis, a struggling screenwriter, and Gloria Swanson as Norma Desmond, a former silent-film star who draws him into her deranged fantasy world, where she dreams of making a triumphant return to the screen. It was directed and co-written by Billy Wilder.
This Fathom Entertainment's Big Screen Classics release has been remastered and includes exclusive insights from film critic and historian Leonard Maltin. After the movie, we can get refreshments and socialize in the theater's Premier Bar & Grill.
Often ranked among the greatest films ever made, "Sunset Boulevard" was deemed "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant" by the U.S. Library of Congress in 1989 and included in the first group of films selected for preservation in the National Film Registry. It won the 1951 Academy Award for best screenplay, music, and art direction, and received eight other nominations. The official 75th aninnversary trailer can be seen at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZQWqIA1-kvA.
Tickets are $12.50 at the door, $14.49 for online orders.
This is a multi-group Meetup. Ours is sponsored by Walls R Us Painting.
