Beyond the Milky Way

Details
Hey everyone, let’s get together and have an informal discussion of astrophotography that will cover the tools to observe or record celestial objects, including: software and apps, how to utilize existing equipment (phones to telescopes), planning an outing, and tips to avoid common problems. For efficiency, a couple of pertinent, curated, YouTube videos will be presented.
After the “class” and optional
For those interested, if the nighttime conditions are favorable, we can head East towards Horse Ridge Pass and engage in practical exercises with our equipment. If you will be participating in this part of the evening, please bring a tripod (I’ll have a few extra ones), a red light to preserve night vision (again, I’ll have two extras), a camera, your widest, fastest lens -or any lens you’d like to try out, any other equipment or gadgets you want to try (trackers, binoculars, laser pointers, etc., and appropriate clothing for the night’s temperature.
Alternatively, you can simply come as an observer. Carpooling is encouraged but not mandatory, as some may want to leave earlier than others. If needed, we can leave extra vehicles at the Barnes & Noble parking lot.
We’ll also schedule an outing, for the near days, to practice what we’ve learned and attempt to capture the best possible images while using the equipment we already have. Presently, Tim is planning a Milky Way outing, so we may combine our efforts to fully utilize the dark skies during this New Moon phase.
