**Amythyst Kiah** (born 11 December 1986)[\[1\]](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amythyst_Kiah#cite_note-1) is an American singer-songwriter. Kiah is a native of [Chattanooga](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chattanooga,_Tennessee "Chattanooga, Tennessee"), Tennessee and currently lives in [Johnson City](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Johnson_City,_Tennessee "Johnson City, Tennessee"). She plays guitar and banjo.She has been touring since 2010 either solo, with a band she called 'Her Chest of Glass' or with her fellow 'Our Native Daughters'.[\[5\]](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amythyst_Kiah#cite_note-countryqueer.com-5)
As of 2022, Kiah has released two solo albums and one EP. She has also appeared (along with [Rhiannon Giddens](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rhiannon_Giddens "Rhiannon Giddens"), [Leyla McCalla](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leyla_McCalla "Leyla McCalla"), and [Allison Russell](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Birds_of_Chicago "Birds of Chicago")) on the album *[Songs of Our Native Daughters](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Songs_of_Our_Native_Daughters "Songs of Our Native Daughters")* (2019).
