Summer Wildflower Walk at Great Flats Nature Trail

PLEASE NOTE: This walk begins at 10am to avoid the hottest part of the day.

The Great Flats Nature Trail encompasses a wetland area located on the border of Schenectady in the Town of Rotterdam. We’ll gather at the trailhead adjacent to the parking area off West Campbell Road.

From the trailhead, we will stroll along a well-defined path (~1.5 miles overall) through woodland and across boardwalks over the wetland portion of this preserve. The majority of this footpath is mowed grass with some muddy spots so please wear proper footwear.

Weather cancellation: This event will be cancelled if any of the following is occurring or is forecast for this destination at that time:

• thunderstorms (or any other severe weather),
• moderate or heavy rainfall (i.e., more than drizzle/mist or intermittent showers), or
• gusty or sustained winds (i.e., treetops are noticeably swaying back and forth).
