What we’re about
Charities Plus has been operating as a non profit organisation since 1985. Our group is attended by 50+ age group and its charter is to raise money for a number of well known charities through enjoyable social events. Although the number of attendees at events advertised on Meetup may appear few, there are always a lot more people in attendance because members from the Littlewood Charities Club Inc (Charities Plus) group also attend, boosting it mostly three-fold. These events are held mainly in the inner city and south-eastern suburbs and attract mostly professional, friendly people who like to enjoy themselves socially, but at the same time have the proceeds from their attendance go to worthwhile causes. This concept has proven successful over the years. We hold various functions including Get-Togethers, Jazz Afternoons, Dinners, Dancing whenever possible, the occasional Day Trip (e.g. to Wineries or Country Race Meetings) and Amateur Theatre nights. We have a smart casual dress code for informal events, but Dances/Dinner Dances require a Jacket and Tie for men and Cocktail Dress for ladies. We add a reasonable donation amount to the cost of each event and at the end of each year this is distributed to the charities we assist.
