Hike in St Charles at Hickory Knolls, 5 miles, option for 3.7
Details
Optional post hike lunch
TBD
This is a small natural area tucked away in between heavily developed areas. Half meadow half shade and trails go from both and in-between. Its never an area where you are stuck in some vast expanse of prairie. Instead, the prairie and open area takes the form of narrow patches. And woodlands are right there when you are out in prairie. This whole place is nice because so much of it is wooded. There are some gentle little hills and the trails will be in all sizes and shapes.
Hike 1:
3.7 miles and end up back at lot
Hike 2:
Add another 1.3 miles and about a third of it is repeat of hike 1. This part involves some bushwhacking at the end. You must be prepared to walk on a very narrow single track (deer path) trail for .2 miles. The vegetation will be 4 to 5 feet high and gently massage you.
