According to the international Esperanto Directory https://eventaservo.org, on virtually every day in 2023 an Esperanto event will take place somewhere in the world, including Australia. While the largest events attract over 1000 participants from more than 50 countries, some have a cosier atmosphere, like the international hiking week hosted by the Nepalese Esperanto Association or the scientists’ gathering organised by a Czech Esperanto publishing house.

In this free presentation/discussion, we will cover the following:

• A quick introduction to Esperanto.
• How to learn it within 20 hours so you are ready to travel.
• Travel reports (with pictures) from different national and international conferences.
• Coffee and tea break (free of charge)
• How to find and choose Esperanto conferences all over the world.
• Presenting the Australian/NZ Esperanto Summer School (6-15 Jan. in Melbourne)

Today’s host is Rainer, an Esperanto speaker from Germany, currently visiting Australia. He co-organised the World Esperanto Congress in Berlin with over 3000 participants. He initially learned Esperanto for 20 hours until he did his first Esperanto travel (to Japan). In the meantime he has used Esperanto to travel to over 40 countries.
