Bayside Walk - Wellington Point to King Island with Optional Brunch/Coffee/Tea

Please join us for a relaxed walk with bay breezes, sand in your toes and beautiful bay views.

The Walk: We will start the walk at Wellington Point Village Green, Main Road, Wellington Point. We wait at the Village Green sign at the carpark. We will walk along the bikeway/footpath and follow Main Rd to the end of Wellington Point at the reserve on the water and the we will walk across the sand bar to King Island. King Island is exposed at low tide and connected to the mainland by a large and wide sand bar which is popular for walkers, swimmers and photographers. We will loop around the tree part of King Island and make our way back to the starting point.

It would be advisable to bring a small backpack, sandals/thongs if you don't like bare feet and a small towel to dry your feet post sand bar walk. You can put your sneakers in the backpack when we get to the sandbar and either go bare foot or with sandals etc. We will wait for everyone to wash their feet and put sneakers back on after sandbar walk.

Note, the tide times at Wellington Point have been checked and this is the time of lowest tide of the day.

The walk will be approximately 9km round trip and mostly flat. It is completely well pathed all the way except for the sand bar walk. Dogs may not be permitted on the Sandbar on weekends, please research. We walk a fairly steady pace but will have various drink or catch up points where people can catch up if slower.

Car Parking or Transport: There is some carparks at Village Green then plenty of street parking around. Wellington Point Train Station is 1.3km walk from Village Green and is on the Cleveland Line.

Brunch/Coffee/Tea: Optional Brunch/Coffee/Tea will be at Wellington Point Village (venue TBA) after the walk. Depending on attendee numbers a table will be reserved.
