Snowshoeing, Cross-Country Ski, Hiking - Crest of the Blue Ridge

Short Notice - Enjoy The Winter Scenery

Please Note: There will be two options for this group adventure to gather. Either option will require carpooling or a vehicle caravan.

With snow on the ground in the mountains of Central Virginia, lets get outdoors to take in the beautiful scenery. Our destination will be the Crest of the Blue Ridge - where we will potentially trek into the Three Ridges Wilderness. With the Blue Ridge Parkway closed, we will be able to trek along the Parkway and then onto a primitive road where we can possibly reach the Three Ridges Wilderness at the junction of the Appalachian Trail and the Mau-Haur Trail.

Your choice of mobility on this adventure can be one of the following:

>snowshoeing
>cross-country skiing
>hiking

We will start from the Blue Ridge Parkway off of Route 814. We will then proceed to do a retrace outing - covering a total of 4 to 5 miles.

After our breath-taking outing - for those that are interested - we can either stop by Basic City Brewing or Timberwood Tap House for a drink and snacks.

What To Bring:

>dress in layers to retain core body heat and warmth
>bring your choice of snowshoes or cross-country skies - or a good pair of broken-in waterproof shoes
>bring snack food - and maybe some hot tea or hot chocolate

The scenery should be beautiful. If you are unable to participate, hopefully you will be in a comfortable, cozy setting.
